I've continued to paint another buffalo study whilst the gorilla is drying, this one I loved - it looks real mean. Although most people think Cape Buffalo are grey they really are anything but, when you really look close. I will add two more buffalo under these two, this time they will be in their natural surrounding, walking through marsh - where they are most at home - I thought it would be a nice change to the dryness of the vegetation in the top two studies.

The studies will be for sale if any collectors are interested.

Here's something different for me to show on my website - my painting studies. Sometimes when large oil paintings are drying between layers, or I just want to study the shape, form and colours etc on a particular animal I paint small studies. the image below show my latest - Cape Buffalo. I'm hoping to start a new large Cape Buffalo painting some time soon so wanted to get to know the animal better. I have been fortunate to see many buffalo in Africa and I can say that not only are they one of the grumpiest, most aggressive of Africa's animals they are also one of the most powerful and awesome as well.

As I add to the studies I will post more images - the studies will be for sale if any collectors are interested.
