The Remarkable Cheetah |
A
cheetah is known for one thing - SPEED - Ultimate
Speed! No land mammal is faster and the challenge for
this painting was to give that feeling of speed whilst still
showing detail and the muscle structure of this perfectly adapted
cat. Running at an incredible 60mph + which it reaches in just
3 - 4 seconds! ONLY 1 foot touches the ground at a time! and
during the stride pattern there are even two instances where
all feet are off the ground! Remarkable! For the painting I felt that the cheetah just had to be whipping up some dust from that hot dry surface as it shot past, I think it certainly adds to the feeling of speed. |
